I believe everyone has a dancer within... and I love to inspire people to allow
that dancer to come out and play. This has been one of my greatest joys in
life. I hope I can inspire the dancer within you.
The magical healing powers of Dance are beneficial to our mental, physical and
emotional well-being. Mentally it forces us to engage our mind into our body
and translate mental intake into physical movement. This not only eliminates
mind chatter, but also sharpens our mind body inter-action skills and enhances
our agility and coordination.
Physically, Dance is multidirectional - so you strengthen and tone muscles all
over your body, unlike unidirectional activities like biking or running, which
only work the muscles in one direction.
Emotionally, Dance is an excellent form of self- expression and stress relief.
I have seen people come into my class stressed, angry, sad, or upset and leave
in a great mood. This is why teaching dance for many years has been one of the
most gratifying things I've ever done. It really lifts your spirit, as I have
experienced myself and have seen thousands of others experience over and
over!!!
Additionally, Dance unifies our mind, body and soul towards a single purpose in
each moment. This positively affects the mind and body like meditation and
increases the harmony in your entire system. In addition, when dance is
performed in a cardio format - you burn body fat and release endorphins, "happy
hormones" resulting in an elevation of mood!
Whether you take a dance fitness class, go out dancing, or dance with a video
in the privacy of your home - I encourage you to make it a part of your life
and see how free you can be.
